Obituary of Robert Henry Dare Sr.

Robert "Bob" Henry Dare, age 74 of Coatesville, PA (formally of Conshohocken) died on November 17, 2014 at Brandywine Hospital. Bob's children were by his side. They were listening to Johnny Cash, particularly Folsom Prison Blues one of Bob's favorite songs, while he peacefully passed away. Bob was born June 10, 1940 in Germantown, PA. He was the son of the late Dorothy (Moran) Dare and George William Dare Jr. He is survived by a brother George William Dare III of Abington, PA and his loving sister and best friend Dorothy Shields of New Jersey. He was the loving father to Dawn Dare of Philadelphia Pa, Bob Dare, Jr. (Cheryl) of West Norriton Pa, Susan Dare of Coatesville Pa, and Anna Dare (Ralph Weidamoyer) of Coatesville Pa, and two step children, Barbara DeMedio of Bridgeport Pa and Irvin Westerfer (Jackie) of Oley Pa. He is also survived by his second wife, Barbara (Freeland) Dare. Although divorced, they spent every holiday and family gathering together for the past 20 years. He was the loving "Pop-Pop" to 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and the Uncle to Doug and Beth Ann. Bob was a foreman at Victory Metals in Plymouth Meeting. He was owner and operator of Fayette Restaurant in Conshohocken and spent 25 years as a cook at Tony & Joe's Pizzeria in Conshohocken, where he retired in 2003. Bob had a love for horse racing, drawing, playing guitar, doing the jitterbug and vacationing in Strathmere Beach, NJ. His greatest passion was to cook, especially for his family. His grandsons, A.J. and Robbie were his sous chefs, by his side listening and learning. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Bob's Life Celebration on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the Moore, Snear& Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa. A funeral service will follow from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, blood donations in his memory can be made to the "American Red Cross" for CHOP.
