Obituary of John J. Koziol

John J. Koziol, a lifelong Conshohocken resident passed away peacefully at Paoli Memorial Hospital, in Paoli, Pa. on Wednesday January 21, 2015, with his family at his side. He was 93 . He was employed as a Steel worker and Crane operator with Walker Brothers of Conshohocken and he retired from US Steel of Fairless Hills in 1983. A dedicated and hardworking man, John was featured in an ad for US Steel in a 1972 edition of Time Magazine. With a picture of John prominently featured in the ad, he and his fellow workers were recognized for their expert work and attention to detail. John woke up at 4AM every day to make sure an order was completed on time. Born in Conshohocken, Pa. on September 4, 1921 son of the late Michael and Anna (Kagen) Koziol. He was a member of the former St. Mary's RC Church in Conshohocken, Pa. During WWII he served from 1942 to 1946 in the United States Army. He served with the 788th Tank Battalion and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. John was a member of The Conshohocken Bocce Club and the TK Club of Conshohocken. He was the loving husband of the late Constance M. (Wojciechowski) Koziol. Survivors include his Daughter: Mary Ann (and Her Husband Joe) Leahy of Conshohocken, PA, Granddaughter: Theresa V. Cooper , Grandson: Michael F. Vermuth, Great Grand Daughter: Jenna Marie Cooper, Great Grandson Jack V. Cooper, and Great Grandson Luke Leahy. He was preceded in death by his brothers Matthew Koziol, Stanley Koziol & Joseph Strycharz, and his sister: Mary Moore. A Funeral Mass for John will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 10:30AM at the St. Mary's RC Church, Elm & Maple Streets, Conshohocken, Pa. Monsignor Thomas Owens will be officiating. Friends may call on Monday morning from 9:30-10:15AM at the Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
