Obituary of Jean C. Smith

Jean C. (Clark) Smith passed away peacefully in her home in Plymouth Valley on Monday July 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old. Born in Conshohocken, PA on December 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Marian (Davis) Clark. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Smith. A devoted mother, she is survived by her children: Valerie (and David) Rodeheaver of Newark, DE; Carol (and Philip) Wiegand of Easton, PA; Nancy Smith Bryant of West River, MD; William R. (and Brenda) Smith of Lower Mount Bethel, PA; Steven (and Sharon) Smith of Allison Park, PA; and Christopher (and Melissa) Smith of Chalfont, PA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Daniel Rodeheaver, Patrick Rodeheaver, Kimberly Wiegand, Douglas Smith, Shane Smith, Marianna Bryant, Nicholas Bryant, Sawyer Smith, Gavin Smith and Finn Smith; and by one great-grandchild, Owen Rodeheaver. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Dorothy Gunning and Maureen Bonn. Jean was a 1949 graduate of St. Matthew's High School in Conshohocken. She then earned a degree in education from Temple University. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Norristown area for several years and then spent many years working as a mother to her children. Her later places of employment included the offices of Sears and Roebuck. She served for many years as a special education CCD teacher and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul Church. Relatives and friends are invited to offer condolences on Friday evening July 17, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Moore, Snear and Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike (at Hannah Ave.) Norristown, PA 19401. In addition, everyone invited to her viewing Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 9:00 – 9:45 AM followed by Mass of Christian burial 10:00 AM at St. Paul R.C. Church, 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA 19401. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, PA.
