Joseph M. Slater, 92, of Jefferson, PA passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 . He was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 21, 1923 . Joseph resided in Jeffersonville, Pa. and was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi RC Church. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a foreman at the former Lee Tire and after retirement as a Security Guard at CPI. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Boy Scout Leader at his Church. He was an umpire for the West Norriton Little League. He was an avid reader and a history buff. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and his grandchildren. Son of the Late Leroy & Emma ( Price ) Slater Predeceased Wife: Late - Rose N Slater Survived by Daughter : Joanne McLaughlin Pittsburgh PA Son : Joseph (& Elizabeth) Slater West Norriton PA Son : Jerome (& Judith) Slater East Norriton PA Daughter : Rosemary (& Herb) Holmes East Norriton PA Daughter : Regina (& John ) O'Hara East Norriton PA Son : Jeffrey Slater West Norriton PA Sister: Jane Salamone Chestnut Hill, Pa Also Survived By 11 Grandchildren & 17 Great Grandchildren Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by Sisters Dolly & Ann And Brothers Leroy, Jerome, William & George. Also, a son in law Neil McLaughlin. His Funeral Mass will be held On Thursday August 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Saint Francis of Assisi RC Church 600 Hamilton St., Norristown, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday Evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home 19 East Germantown Pike East Norriton, PA. Interment will take place in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
